Hands of Hope is a division of Family Service Society, Inc.and exists to intervene and prevent domestic and sexual violence and stalking through education, advocacy, and comprehensive strategies. Domestic violence is an issue that not only affects men and women, but their families and our community. We serve and strive to improve the well-being of all who seek our services. In Indiana, there are 22 Community Action Agencies that serve all 92 counties of Indiana and comprise the Indiana Community Action Network. Each Community Action Agency periodically analyzes community needs to identify strategies that will work best in attacking poverty. Each CAA is distinct because its programs reflect the needs of their local communities. These agencies are unique in their ability to deploy diverse program activities and services in meeting their mission. Community Action Agencies operate an array of programs which include, but are not limited to: Head Start, Energy Assistance Program, Weatherization Program, Individual Development Accounts, Homeownership Counseling, Owner Occupied Rehabilitation, Housing Development, Foster Grandparents, Child Care, and many more programs and services.

Flannery- Keal Home

The Flannery-Keal Home is located in a confidential location for male and female victims of domestic violence and their children. Domestic violence victims may stay at the emergency shelter short term where all their basic necessities such as food, new clothing, and personal hygiene items are provided for them at no cost. The Flannery-Keal Home has gone to a no harm/trauma informed care approach to delivering services which mean that clients drive the services provided to them.

Offering Life Changing Hope through the Restoring Power of Jesus Christ. Thanks to generous public support, all of our services (meals, shelter, addiction recovery, and transitional housing) for people who are poor or homeless are provided free of charge at the Mission’s main location (423 S. Gallatin St., Marion). A hot meal means so much to a man or woman who might have gone days without food. Often, it’s that first meal at the Mission that leads a hurting person to a new life in our recovery programs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner—more than 65,000 meals a year—are served 365 days a year to anyone in need.

The Indiana COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program helps Hoosiers who are unable to pay their rent due to a loss of wages or other impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to qualify for this program you must meet all of the following criteria: (1)Be an Indiana Resident, (2)Currently rent your home OR are Currently experiencing homelessness, (3)Homeowners can contact 877-GET-HOPE, (4)Do not reside in Marion County, (5)Show you were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, (6)Property you are seeking assistance for must be your primary residence.

A Better Way provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, a walk-in Rape Crisis Center, advocacy, individual trauma-informed counseling, support groups, transitional housing, a 24-hour crisis line for persons in any type of crisis, education + referrals, a suicide hotline, bullying, teen dating violence and domestic violence prevention programs, and a check-in call service for elderly or disabled homebound persons.

The Grant County Rescue Mission and Open Heart Women's Shelter works to address some of the underlying problems of homelessness, such as: substance abuse, incomplete education, and inadequate skills. Each individual that stays at the Rescue Mission is required to complete a ten step Mountain Movers Program.
